A memorable Hacienda Brothers moment was last year, in Ireland. A few gigs before we were to play the Kilkenny Roots Festival, Gaff suggested we work up an instrumental version of Danny Boy. We did. Our first night in Kilkenny was standing room only. The people were fantastic. I wish the night could have lasted for a month. Anyway, we closed with the instrumental version of Danny Boy and by the time we had finished the intro everyone in the audience was singing the song. I had chicken skin and watery eyes. It was everything I'd hoped Ireland would be. That was a great way to end a special night.
A few words for the Hacienda Brothers fans that are consistently some of the nicest people I've ever met: It doesn't matter whether it's in the US or overseas. It's a real pleasure and privilege to play for such supportive and friendly folks. My thanks go out to all of them. I'm looking forward to making more friends on the road this year.
